One of the main reasons for the excellent results and the numerous guests to Dubrovnik this season is undoubtedly the cruise ship industry. According to statistics from the Central Bureau of Statistics Dubrovnik is the most important destination for cruise ships in Croatia. The second half of the year also looks positive with a total of 108 cruise ships visiting the city in October with a total of 134,152 passengers. Just this weekend the city will see nine cruise ships bringing with them around 14,777 passengers. The total number of cruise ship passengers through 2010 is expected to be around 930,000 which will be an increase of 11 percent on last year. Thanks to MSC cruises this year will also be a historic year for the city as it will be the first year that cruises will continue through the winter months. MSC Magnifica will visit the city every eleven days through the winter as part of a tour that includes Venice, Cyprus, Greece and Israel.
