Lopud, the most beautiful and second largest Elafite island is located between the islands Koločep and Šipan. The island, which nowadays has about three hundred inhabitants, flourished at the time of the Dubrovnik Republic, as a favourite summer residence of Dubrovnik aristocrats. An attractive tourist destination, Lopud now has 319 beds in private accommodation and 72 beds at the four-star Villa Vilina Hotel and the three-star Glavović Hotel. The Lafodia Hotel, the reconstruction of which is about to be completed, will be a four-star hotel with about 400 beds.
